Safety Cameras – the combined term for fixed and mobile speed cameras and red-light cameras – are operated by Bedfordshire Police in partnership with the local highway authorities.

Speed cameras are deployed in the area’s worst casualty trouble-spots where speed has been a contributory factor in the collisions that have occurred. The purpose of cameras is to deter speeding and red-light running, in order to prevent further collisions.  Bedfordshire Police also enforce sped limits at “anxiety” sites, in response to requests from concerned residents and Parish councils.
